Back from short hiatus

Sorry I've been quiet for so long, it's been picking up here in terms of school work and just life in general.

Here's my post on Disney Sea that I meant to post forever ago.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Written: December 1st.

Back in the States I don't generally give Disney much thought, especially the theme park. It's become one of those huge corporate giants that I don't care to pour my hard-earned money into. But alas, I just had to win those two free tickets to Tokyo Disney Sea.

This picture contradicts what I said
about the whether but it really
was a nice day!
My old friend from Toyama came and visited me over the weekend. For those of you who do not know where Toyama is in relation to Tokyo, let me draw you a map (figuratively). Tokyo (meaning east capital) is on the, you guessed it, east coast. Toyama (I have no idea what that means) is located on the west coast, meaning she had quite the journey over mountains and through other treacherous terrain to get to me. But she arrived safe and sound and we then made our way towards Tokyo Disney (why on earth they call it Tokyo Disney is beyond me because it's not even located in Tokyo, it's in Maihama, Chiba! But I digress).

The passes that I had did not permit us entry until three o'clock so we timed our journey just right so as to arrived close to the stated time. It was such a beautiful Saturday even though the forecast was for rain. It was only a bit chilly but nothing that a good jacket couldn't fight off. When we arrived at the Tokyo Disney tram we heard over the intercom that starting from three o'clock they were not selling anymore passes or allowing anyone else into the park until five o'clock due to high crowd levels. Curse you bright, warm, beautiful day for bringing all the people out.

looks like i'm either gonna have to
come back to Disney Sea or go
to Disney World in Florida to ride you!
and I vote for the latter XD
So we fought to no avail with the park entrance people to let us in, but since it plainly stated on our passes that we could be delayed entrance if there were high crowd levels, we had to wait. We explored outside the park and went into the resort where we tried to get a room (jokingly) but I guess no one in Disney Land can speak English (because of course I wanted play off that I couldn't speak Japanese even though Natsuki was by my side). When they finally let us in it was nearing nightfall, but that didn't stunt our excitement. Despite all my previous feelings about Disney and fighting the corporate monster, we both ran into the park giggling like two overgrown retarded school children.

Since it was so crowded, and we only had five hours until the park closed, we weren't able to ride pretty much anything cool. Tower of Terror was a three hour wait. Splash mountain, two and a half. All the other cool ones just as long. So we opted for the rides that no one was riding and make the best of it. We rode the little mermaid roller coaster ride, this one ride where you watch the screen and it's like you're flying and what not. Then we sampled all the flavors of popcorn they had to offer; my favorite being the strawberry, Natsuki the chocolate.

refillable popcorn bucket! XD
By about 7:30ish we were running out of things to entertain us and we notice that the line for "Journey to the Center of the Earth" had died down to 90minutes, so we bucked up and decided to wait in line. Well, that 90minutes turned out to be 2 and a half hours after all the fast pass jerks got through. They stopped giving those away by the time we got there. But we rode it and it was fun. By the time we got off it the park was closing so we ran to one of the merch stores and spent way to much money on Disney related things. I bought a Chip n' Dales mug, a Chip n' Dales benni (So I like Chip n' Dales, so what!?) and a present for my host family.

All in all it was a good time spent. The next day me and Natsuki went to Harajuku where we proceeded to spend even more money on clothes and what not. A very successful weekend in my opinion.

SO MANY CHOICES OF POPCORN!

I've caught the flu so i'll save the rest of my posts until I get better.

until next time~
Peace outside.

Halloween!

Despite Japanese people not really understanding what Halloween is all about or where it came from (although you could argue that most American's don't know either) shops still hang ghosts and spider webs in their shop windows and Halloween themed candy is distributed countrywide.

There are no little kids running around in costumes from door to door yelling "trick-or-treat" but the grown ups do get their freak on and dress crazier than usual (for Tokyo fashion anyway) and go out and party till the wee hours of the morning. They even had some parades I hear (although this might have just been an extraordinary amount of drunken dressed up fools walking the streets of Roppongi and other big party areas and someone just miss-took it for a parade).

The Niji no Kai circle at my school put together a party and I happily bought a ticket to go. They held it in this club in Shinjuku and though the ticket was a little pricey it was worth it non-the-less.

I had great fun putting together my costume. I was originally going to go as Lady Gaga but then I decided that would have been to boring and so I put a twist on it and went as ZOMBIE GAGA. I watched Youtube tutorials on how to do zombie make-up as well as a tutorial for how to get the HUGE eyes Lady Gaga sports in her Bad Romance video. I spent about 3 hours putting it all on (three pairs of fake eyelashes on EACH EYE) and the result was satisfactory:
I scared the shit outta my host dad three times that night!
XD

My clothes were inspired by her Telephone costume. Instead of cans I used curlers and instead of just a bra under my leather jacket (I can be modest) I tied up my David Bowie shirt on the sides and tucked it in around my bra. Then of course short-shorts instead of underwear and my 6'' stilettos were in order XD

Not quite the same but you get it lol

The rest of the costumes there ranged from zombies to Teletubbies; my favorite was a guy dressed as V from V for Vendetta):
He made the mask himself!
There was plenty of drinks and food for everyone (but no candy!?!) but the music pretty much sucked. Someone just had their Ipod plugged in on random so I asked my friend who had an IPod as well if he had any Lady Gaga music on it. He did; I told him to plug it in and play Bad Romance. He did; I got up on one of the tables and started to dance while everyone around went wild. I was epic. Until I was asked to get off the table by one of the people who was running the show. Damn Japanese etiquette.

The party lasted for about three hours and by the end of it the organizers got up and started to announce the winners of the "Best Dressed" contest which I had no idea was taking place so I wasn't really paying attention. Until they called my name. I won the grand prize!? TWO FREE TICKETS TO EITHER DISNEY LAND OR DISNEY SEA!?! AND I HAVE UNTIL NEXT NOVEMBER TO USE THEM!?

Of course since there were two tickets the announcers asked who I was taking and I was all like "uuuhhh..who wants to go?" at which everyone was like "ME!!". Embarrassing. But so as not to hurt anyone's feelings (and so that no one would be all "ooooh, you like him don't you??" If I asked one of my guy friends there, I asked my friend Natsuyo to go with me! XD

Although I really think either the Teletubbi or V should of won but i'm not complaining.
